My painting begins with objects. I create characters. The relationship between the object and I exists before painting. My work has started to play with my connection to the still life and paint as a medium. I have continued to look at the still life but I step away from the objects and observe the painting by itself. I often play with scale and color in hopes of creating a more abstract experience. My paintings are about both the object itself and my understanding of it. My paintings would not exist without that relationship. When my idea or understanding of something changes, then so do my paintings. And what the object used to be, is let go.
